Preparing a Grant Application

First-time applicants sometimes ask for tips on writing grant proposals. We find that the key is to clearly describe the historical importance and potential research value of the films proposed for preservation. There are many ways to cover the necessary points. The following excerpts from successful grant applications submitted by the Minnesota Historical Society and the New Mexico State Records Center and Archives illustrate two effective approaches. Many thanks to these organizations for allowing us to share their proposals on our website.
